22. How soon can I walk?
After many distal Chevron procedures, patients can take protected steps in a postoperative shoe according to the surgeon’s instructions. Heel-only, partial or full protected weight-bearing protocols vary. Other procedures can require stricter protection.
23. How long will swelling last?
Swelling commonly persists for several months and may increase later in the day. The overall trend should improve. Sudden worsening with redness, heat, wound change, calf pain or breathlessness requires assessment.
24. When can I drive?
Only when you are out of any incompatible postoperative shoe or boot, off impairing medication and able to perform an emergency stop reliably. Right-foot surgery, manual transmission, insurer requirements and individual function affect timing.
