10. Can orthoses straighten a bunion?

Orthoses may improve load distribution or associated symptoms, but they do not reliably realign an established adult bunion. They are useful when mechanics or other painful structures contribute to the presentation.

11. Do toe spacers or bunion splints work?

They may temporarily improve comfort or toe position while worn. Evidence that they permanently correct adult bony deformity is limited. They should not create pressure, skin injury or numbness.

12. Can exercises remove a bunion?

No. Exercises can improve strength, balance and joint control, but they cannot remove the bony deformity. They may still be worthwhile when stiffness, weakness or gait impairment is present.
