Do orthotics help Morton’s neuroma?

Short answer: Orthoses, load modification and selected medication can reduce contributing pressure and symptoms, especially when mechanics are part of the problem. They do not directly remove the thickened nerve.

An orthosis may redistribute metatarsal load and incorporate a metatarsal dome. Generic devices are not automatically sufficient or necessary; the intervention should address the individual foot and footwear.

Anti-inflammatory or neuropathic-pain medication may assist selected patients but has medical risks and variable benefit. Calf mobility, intrinsic strength and gradual load management may support function, while aggressive forefoot loading during a flare is usually unhelpful.
