What footwear helps Morton’s neuroma?
Short answer: A wide toe box, lower heel and adequate forefoot cushioning can reduce intermetatarsal compression. A correctly positioned metatarsal pad may spread load behind the painful area.
The pad belongs proximal to the metatarsal heads, not directly beneath the neuroma. Incorrect placement can increase pressure. Shoe volume must accommodate the foot and any insert without recreating compression.
Footwear modification is a sensible first step, particularly for mild or intermittent symptoms. It may control irritation but cannot reliably reverse established perineural fibrosis.
