4. Will my bunion definitely get worse?
No. Some remain stable for years; others progress. Increasing toe deviation, lesser-toe crowding, joint pain or difficulty with ordinary shoes suggests reassessment, but an X-ray cannot precisely predict the rate of future change.
5. Why can a small bunion be very painful?
Pain does not correlate perfectly with the size of the deformity. Joint inflammation, nerve irritation, footwear pressure, sesamoid problems or arthritis can make a relatively modest bunion symptomatic.
6. Can a large bunion be painless?
Yes. Size and symptoms are different variables. Surgery is generally not recommended solely because a bunion looks severe if it causes no meaningful pain or functional limitation.
